Chic Critique Cover Contest Entry
Because why not? Why not enter the Chic Critique Cover Contest? I mean, I only just found out about it today and the deadline is midnight tonight...why not? Now that I'm subscribed to their newsletter and "like"ing them on Facebook I might actually find out about the next one earlier to submit another image!

I've been a really lousy blogger lately. I'll come back soon. For real.

My Kitchen: A Pink Wall
Guys. Remember this pink wall from my ridiculous pictures/confession yesterday? Well,we painted our kitchen wall pink!
I got carried away (?) and decided that we are going to re-do the dining room, and painted a wall in there pink too! (That's where I took the pictures.) Anyway, "re-do" means I'm painting the ceiling white and the walls gray. Yes. I can't wait.

My Confessions
Sometimes I sleepwalk.
So weird, right? It freaks me out.
Like this one time I went to girls camp. I remember waking up and wondering why my sleeping bag was so fetching cold. Then I fell back asleep.
In the morning my mom asked, "where did you go last night?" And I looked at her all like:
She continued, "you got up and left and were gone for awhile..."
I didn't remember anything. I still don't, except that my sleeping bag was really fetching cold when I came back from wherever I was. I could have been eaten by an animal! I could have died!!!
Then this other time, I went to the city of sin. That's right, Las Vegas. I think my friends and I were celebrating a birthday. Anyway, we all shared a hotel room and I remember getting up one night to go to the bathroom and then getting back in bed.
In the morning my friend asked, "so where'd you go last night?" And I looked at her all like:
And I said, "to the bathroom....?"
She continued, "you took the key off the table and left the room..."
I don't remember anything except for getting up to go to the bathroom. I could have been snatched and sold into a brothel! I could have died!!!!!
This morning I woke up and our bedroom window was open. Nathanael didn't do it, unless he was asleep, but given the fact that I am prone to doing things in my sleep and he is not, it was probably me. I wondered why the coyotes were so loud this morning. Good thing is, as far as we know, I didn't go anywhere.
I think.

Some Nature, Some Deer
Sometimes, living in the middle of nowhere makes me want to rip my hair out, but most times, it's pretty okay. Especially when deer make a habit of chilling in your backyard. I snapped a couple of pictures of them the other day from Caeden's bedroom window. We think they were all bucks. Soooo neat!
I climbed out onto the roof to get the last picture of the deer, then hollered at Mossberg, and this is the pic I got of him running to find me. Totally adorable.

Snowy Days
There aren't very many snowy days in Missouri. I miss the Utah snow! Mostly just for a minute, then I don't miss it anymore. It's just so gorgeous to look at!
So I wanted to start taking pics of people more right? I asked (made?) my husband come outside in our latest snowstorm so I could take some pics of him to practice some aperture mode.
He hates snow/cold/winter/anything to do with winter. Except for maybe Christmas. So this is like, a really big deal. Here's my favorite picture:
He *wanted* that picture taken. It is not my fault that it is now all over the internet. I also love the second one:

Here he is walking into Narnia (aka our backyard).
Best husband. Oh, and here's a picture of Mossberg for good measure.

DIY Handpainted Floor: Bring Your Love
It's getting close to Valentine's Day; one of my most favorite holidays ever! I just love love. You know?
I started painting some sappy love quote I came up with on our entry way floor, then never finished.I figured, Valentine's Day is coming up, so why not finish the freaking floor? And I did.
First, I drew out letters onto the floor with a marker. I originally used latex paint and painted out the letters. I washed the floor once and some of the paint peeled up.
This time I used oil-based porch and floor paint (which I used on our dining room table and our kitchen and dining room floors). I outlined the letters with frog tape to help with the edges and to help speed up the process.
This is not a project for the faint-hearted. I think it took me two hours to tape the letters off, and even with frog tape there was some leakage. That may have to do with the fact that our floor isn't completely level. Whatev. I'm okay with imperfection, so I left it. It's going to get all walked on anyway!

Why Not Pizza?
Sometimes we go on dates, and sometimes we eat pizza. There were probably three weeks of my pregnancy with Caeden where all I could (would?) eat was pizza and spaghetti. Everything else made me nauseous. Whatev.
We went to "Why Not Pizza" in the big city of Polo, Missouri. There are like, 570-something people living there. There were more people at the bar in town than anywhere else on the main street. Including the gas station, which I guess is a good thing if the majority of people are at the bar. It happens.
For all the local homies: try it out! It's a great place with yum food. and it's cheap!

We were the only people in the place, which is probably a good thing as I am far too loud and crazy to be around anyone else. Just kidding. But really. We are pretty good at entertaining ourselves:
Nathanael even got to use a jukebox for the first time!
