To Paint, or No?

I *love* painted wood! If I recall correctly, which most of the time I don't, my dad hates painting wood. So for all of you wood-loving-paint-haters I want to give you a heads up: I WILL be painting the wood in our house. Yes. I will. Yes, that does include this:

Okay, everyone take a breath.

*inhale*

*exhale*

Moving on. My sister-in-law sent me this link for a cute kitchen floor idea.

Checked floor! Very fun and vintage. I had already contemplated the idea of painting our porch floor when we build it. I have also contemplated painting one of the "kid" bedroom floors (I haven't told My Honeypie yet, all of my 'awesome' ideas are sometimes a bit overwhelming)--but painting the kitchen floor didn't occur to me yet. Maybe it would make it extra fabulous with the high ceiling, library ladder, and chandelier(s?).

I'm kinda liking these:

How to is here.

[caption id="" align="aligncenter" width="400" caption="Liking the lace look..."][/caption]

How totally cool would it be to have a version of the above picture, but with like, "I Spy" things in it? Like little birds and feathers and raindrops and flowers and hourglasses and rainbows and little unicorns???! See, these are my awesome ideas I try to keep to myself because I think My Honeypie's would stare at me and say something sweet like, "That sounds great, but we don't have any walls yet..." and then I'm like, "Oh yeah, well just remember it."
Look how blue!

Not a fan of concrete floors, but I love the design on this one:

and it would look just as lovely on a wood floor!

So...the question is this: to paint the floor, or no??

It's Cooking Time!

Not really, but My Honeypie knocked out the wall to extend the kitchen.

So exciting!!

I'm Most Thankful for My Bed.

I was in Primary and our teacher asked us to draw a picture of what we were most thankful for. While other kids were drawing pictures of their families, their pets, their houses, or their cars...I drew a picture of my bed.

Yes. My bed.

Luckily, my parents aren't easily offended and they thought my picture was hilarious. I actually think they saved it, but I don't know where it's at.

***Correction: My parents did not save it because it was on a chalkboard, my dad was totally worried, and I wasn't in my second grade class like I previously thought. Sometimes I get my "time and space" mixed up. Whatev!

I had never had a bed that sported a headboard until I'd been living on my own for 4 years and finally bought my own bed. Student housing normally came furnished so there was never any need for me to buy one until I decided I had some minimal taste and style.

It looked like this: Except it had little rods in the head piece in place of wooden slats.

Stylish, right? hah. It was forty bucks! Anyway, I painted it black and it became my new favorite bed until I sold it and moved to Missouri.

We currently have a bed that looks like this: Which we got for freeeeeee! I love free.

I also really like our bed. but I also really like different headboards--like ones made of fabrics, or doors, or window frames? Okay, I show you!

For over $1,200???

I'll take the cheap one thank you.

***Update on the house: everything is knocked down/ripped up/taken out! We have just a little more clean up to do and probably a thousand nails to hammer in. We will be ordering windows soon and My Honeypie will be starting the electrical and plumbing shortly. Yay! Go house! I have do have pictures, but haven't been anywhere I can upload them yet. So sorry!

iHeart Fall.

Guess what...I got another flat tire!! Right after I got brand new ones put on. Yay! A nice man on his way home from work this morning helped me change it before my brother could even get there.

Moving on.

I love Fall.

I fully believe the seasons should be as follows:

Winter: December. Only December.
Spring: January to June
Summer: July. Just July.
Fall: August to November.

I've never done much fall decorating. In Utah I just looked up at the mountains and they were all sorts of yellow, orange, red, purple, and green looking so I never felt the need. I'm not sure how fall really looks here in Missouri. So far, it's mostly like dried corn stalks.

Anyway, I was wandering around Far West yesterday and picked up a handful of acorns. Mostly because they're cute, but then I thought I could paint them as part of a fall-type decoration. I perused and found some acorn love:

I'm Not Lucky

"No, I'm not lucky; I'm blessed, yes."

Thank you, Nicki Minaj. Yeah, I totally just quoted her.

Today=a gross day. My Honeypie is out of town. I woke up with red, itchy eyes because I'm allergic to something in the basement we are renting. I got ready for work and was on my way to my before school meeting...

I'm half a mile away from home and my car starts making this funky noise and I'm all like, "Oh H no!" and my car was like, "You know what it is!" and I got out and my rear tire was totally flat...there was a nail sticking out of it. Go figure. Probably picked it up from construction on our house. So I call the boss man, tell him I won't make it to the meeting and call my mom with the intention of asking her if I can call my brothers (who were at early morning seminary) to assist me, but after I said, "Good morning, my tire is flat" I mostly just cried and my mom read my mind. So convenient!

My brothers came to the rescue and we continued on to school.

Lunch time comes and I'm eating even though I feel kinda gross because that's what you do when you're pregnant. Otherwise your stomach will eat the baby.

Joke!

Your stomach won't eat the baby. If all else fails the baby will just suck off your brain fat. That's why pregnant women are so spacey.

Joke! but someone totally believed me when I told them that.

Then I totally threw up in my office. I won't tell you what I was eating. You're welcome.

So I'm still at work and like, wallowing in self-pity right? Then I realized I was being a baby! Because since moving to Missouri from Utah eight months ago this is what has happened to me:

*I totally met this beautiful boy who ultimately ended up marrying me.

*I totally got pregnant. Frightening? Yes. Blessing? Yes.

*We bought my dream home. I always said that I wanted an old, Victorian house in the middle of nowhere surrounded by trees so you couldn't tell it was there. I got all of that.

Then of course little things happen that are just so good, but those three things are amazing in and of themselves. So I'm going to stop being a baby and realized that I'm blessed! Yes.

Through discovering my bless-ed-ness I thought I would share this idea I had.

Wedding Dress.

You never see it again once you've put it in your closet and it's so sad!! Or you sell it on eBay, which makes me more sad for some reason. I don't know why. So, I thought to myself, "Self, I want my wedding dress to be where people can see." Especially since my mom made it exactly how I wanted it. It's beautiful! She did more than a good job.

I was thinking old wardrobe with a glass front--hang up the dress inside with whatever else you used from your wedding day. Dried flowers if you have them, the wedding bling, the shoes, the invitation, a picture, whatev. Something along the lines of these:

[caption id="attachment_389" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="But replace the mirror with some glass"][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_390" align="aligncenter" width="159" caption="This would be absolutely perfect."][/caption]

[caption id="attachment_391" align="aligncenter" width="300" caption="This is just freaking amazing. It reminds me of Beauty and the Beast."][/caption]

Now, I know I haven't even had my first kid yet, but if I have a little girl I want to put this little wedding display in her room. So that's what's up.

Have any of you displayed your wedding dress in some way?
