- Using vegetable oil and vinegar to bring the floor back to life again.
Ta-da! We had just gotten back from swimming at my parent's house. Holla!
Anyway, last night My Honeypie did a coat of poly on the floor. Check it out:

Yesterday, My Honeypie came home and handed me some dollars and I was like, "what's this for?" and he told me, "[insert inappropriate joke]."
Joke!
He just told me it was for me. Awwww. Spoiled!
You want to know what I did with that money? I went to the antique store in Hamilton, duh.
Oh, yes I did. and I bought a wooden chair for ten bucks. It looked like this:
Now it looks like this!
OMGOSH!! Is it wrong to totally love what you, yourself, just accomplished? Cuz I totally do. I looove it!
I love it so much that I risked getting ticks to give my chair a photo opportunity:
I decided this is for my craft room. Until then it shall remain...everywhere.
One more painted ceiling down!
This color is by far my favorite. Check it:
Before:
After:
Woop!
"True Turquoise."
I am so loving it.
At the suggestions of my little sister and sister-in-law, I am going to paint all of the ceilings in a color of the rainbow. Don't worry, some will still be white.
I decided to paint the entry way ceiling a green, and the craft room ceiling a light lavender. Then our house will be a rainbow for real!
Also, my awesome brother-in-law came and helped My Honeypie do this:
OMGOSH!
We have kitchen cabinets!
I know this isn't typically how a piece like this is used...I'm pretty sure they are used on top of another set of cabinets, but it works this way for us. Plus, our kitchen is going to kind of be a mess of different cabinets as we piece the kitchen together. No matter! I'm painting them all anyway. Of course.
Paint all the things!!!
It is one of the things I have in common with my eleven (almost 12!) year old sister. I don't know what that says about me. Whatever.
I also love everything shabby chic.
Rainbow love+shabby chic love=contradiction.
The one thing I know about shabby chic-ness, is that it mostly involves ruffles, lace, grouping stuffs, and WHITE. Lots and lots of whites.
But I love rainbows.
So trying to figure out how to decorate my house has been a little bit of a problem.
I want shabby chic,
but I also want colors.
I LOVE THE RAINBOW!
Its like this battle going on constantly in my head.
Our room is pretty much all white and I love it, but I wanted something more...
To satisfy my dueling personalities, I decided on white walls downstairs and...
colored ceilings!
It's like a rainbow in our house!
Yes, it is orange. "Ripe Tangerine" to be exact.
We painted the ceiling "Bright Sunshine".
I've got sunshiii-eee-ine!
That isn't all we've been doing...we also finished the floor in the second living room. Which means we can move everything out of living room number one (you will see pictures soooon!) so I can paint that ceiling and finish the floors. Stay tuned for an update on that in the next couple of days.
The other day My Honeypie and I had a conversation that went something like this:
[In the kitchen]
Honeypie: You know, I guess you will have a lot of counter space.
Me: I know.
Honeypie: You could actually probably fit an island here too, if you wanted.
Me: I know.
Honeypie: But I already told you when you asked before that you didn't have room...
Me: I know...but I knew you were wrong so I was planning on having one anyway.
:)
My goal this summer is to find something with which I can make an awesome island. There are two great things I have discovered about Missouri:
1. The-Day-Before-Trash-Pick-Up-Day
Why? People get rid of the most awesome junk!
2. Garage Sales.
Why? People get rid of the most awesome junk for cheap!
and then you're like, "all that really needs is some paint..." and BOOM. Beautiful
So all I need to do this summer is find something like this:
or this
or this:
and make it awesome!
